PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEOn February 6, 2024, the Board of Emergency Services Commissioners of Medina County Emergency Services District No. 4 (“District”), the political subdivision of the State of Texas which provides emergency medical services and ambulance transport to the citizens of the City of Natalia, the City of Devine, and surrounding Medina County areas, decided to transition the provision of these vital emergency medical services away from a third-party contractor to the District providing these services directly through its own equipment and personnel.
Currently, the District has an agreement with Bluebird Medical Enterprises, LLC, d/b/a Allegiance Mobile Health (“Allegiance”) to provide emergency ambulance services to its citizens which continues through September 30, 2024, and, if necessary, for at least an additional 120 days from that date. While Allegiance has provided the District and its citizens with excellent emergency medical services for a number of years, the District has decided to better serve the community by directly providing these services as the District did prior to contracting with third-party providers.
The District is in the process of obtaining two new ambulances and retaining the necessary staff to provide the same services currently provided by Allegiance. During this transition period, Allegiance will continue to provide the same level of services historically provided to the District. It is anticipated the District will commence the direct provision of emergency medical services to its citizens on or about September 30, 2024. With the voters of the District approving the implementation of a Sales and Use Tax in the District, the District determined it could not only maintain the current level of services but increase and enhance the level of emergency medical services it provides. The District wants to sincerely thank Allegiance for its six-years of service to the District and its cooperation in assisting the District with this transition.
